Medvedev set to win Russia poll |

The man initial results suggest has won Russia's presidential election, Dmitry Medvedev, has vowed to continue the course of predecessor Vladimir Putin. While cautioning that the full results were not in, Mr Medvedev told reporters he hoped to work in an "effective tandem" with Mr Putin as his PM. |

Turkish troops pull out of Iraq |

Turkey says its troops have been withdrawn from northern Iraq after an offensive against Kurdish PKK rebels. In a statement on its website, Turkey's military said it had achieved its goals, and there was no question of any foreign influence on the decision. |
